.mobi Domain Name Registration for Mobile Devices

.mobi from internettersAlthough mobile devices and the networks that support them are improving, it seems like the mobile Web is almost a secret these days because sites can be hard to locate and have little content when you find them.

And yet, with four mobile phones purchased for every one personal computer, there's a world of people whose main access point to the Internet is a mobile device.

.mobi is the first top level domain dedicated to delivering the Internet to mobile devices.

Q: What is .mobi?

See All about .mobi for more information.

Q: What are the valid characters for a .mobi domain name?

A: .mobi domain names can contain the English-language letters A through Z, and the digits 0 through 9. You can also use hyphens, but hyphens cannot begin or end your domain name. Spaces and special characters (such as !, $, &, ë, and so on) are never permitted.

Q: What happens if there is a dispute about a .mobi domain name?

A: .mobi has two dispute resolution processes. These are the Sunrise Dispute Resolution process and the ICANN Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) Process. The Sunrise Challenge process is available as part of the .mobi Sunrise trademark holders registration service while UDRP is available to challenge any .mobi domain name at any time.

Q: What names are reserved or otherwise not available?

A: In May 2006, .mobi published a draft list of names that will not be available in Sunrise. Registrars are encouraged not to take fees from registrants for these unavailable names.
